Integrative medicine draws upon therapeutic
models to create a more comprehensive approach to the art and science
of medicine. Integrative medicine is geared to the promotion of health
and the prevention of illness. It neither rejects conventional medicine
nor accepts alternative medicine without serious evaluation. The integrative
medical model delves deeply into the unique physiology of each patient
to identify underlying mechanisms and causes for presenting pathology.
Integrative medicine is oriented to internal mechanisms as well as symptom
relief, therefore it provides your patients with a true "health
care" paradigm.
Dr. Robert A. Kornfeld, DPM will illustrate
the bridging of "symptom-based" care and salutogenesis. From
the perspective of integrative medicine, Dr. Kornfeld will teach you
how to intervene on behalf of gene expression with regard to inflammation
and chronic degenerative disorders. Understanding the relationship of
nutrigenomics and inflammation assures the practitioner of a well-defined
mechanistic approach to healing his/her patient.
Our facilitator: Dr. Robert
A. Kornfeld has been a practicing podiatrist for 25 years both on Long
Island and New York City. Dr. Kornfeld has been practicing integrative podiatric medicine for over 17 years. Dr. Kornfeld runs mentoring programs that empower and support the already experienced physician in the application of integrative protocols of the foot and ankle. He continues his studies through seminars and research.
He is both a Fellow of the American Academy of Alternative Medicine and Diplomate of the American Board of Alternative
Medicine and represents the profession as the only podiatrist in both
categories. Dr. Kornfeld wishes to thank and
acknowledge Dr. Jeffrey Bland for his teachings, inspiration and groundbreaking
work in clinical nutrition, nutrigenomics and the science of modern
nutraceuticals.

* You will learn the nutrigenomic basis for inflammation and protocols to intervene on behalf of gene expression to modulate chronic pain and degenerative "inflammatory" disorders.
* You will learn why insulin resistance relates not only to diabetes, but to inflammation and cardiovascular (peripheral vascular) disease.
* You will learn specific nutrients that directly influence vascular endothelial function.
* You will learn how clinical nutrigenomics can be successfully applied to major chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, peripheral vascular disease, diabetic vascular disease, diabetic neuropathy, tendinopathies, etc.
* You will gain a clinical understanding of nutritional, homeopathic and herbal medicine and their applications to podiatric medicine.
* You will be able to evaluate metabolic and functional laboratory analyses and use them as a basis for treatment protocols.
* You will go back to your practice armed with treatment protocols that will improve patient outcomes.
