Professional Background

Dr. Robert A. Kornfeld received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree in 1980. The Academy of Ambulatory Foot Surgery honored him as "Outstanding Graduate" in the field of ambulatory foot surgery. He went on to complete post-graduate training in foot and ankle surgery. He became a Fellow of the Academy of Ambulatory Foot Surgery in 1981. Dr. Kornfeld's personal interest in holistic and natural medicines fueled his desire to incorporate a more comprehensive approach to the practice of podiatric medicine. After extensive studies in homeopathic medicine, homotoxicology, anthroposophical medicine, and herbal and nutritional medicine, Dr. Kornfeld has developed protocols for almost all foot and ankle pathology, incorporating safe, natural, supportive medicines which allow the body to "heal itself". Dr. Kornfeld was the first, and presently the only, podiatrist in the nation to be Board Certified in Integrative/Complementary Medicine by the American Board of Alternative Medicine. He is also certified by the American Alternative Medical Association and a member of the American Holistic Medical Association, The Foundation for the Advancement of Innovative Medicine, The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, The American Holistic Health Association and The Society for Integrative Medicine. He is also the host of his own interactive radio show, "The Holistic Foot and Healthcare Show" which has aired on WEVD 1050 AM, WMCA 560 AM and WWRL 1600 AM radio stations over the past 3 years.

Amy V. Elias Kornfeld, M.S. received her B.S. in Elementary/Special Education in 1977 and a Masters Degree in 1980. Amy taught Special Education at AHRC in Old Westbury and Shelter Rock School in Manhasset; she has taught group and private macrobiotic cooking classes for health and recovery; she is a natural lifestyle coach; and a Certified ISHTA yoga instructor at Yoga Zone of Brookville as well as here at the Kornfeld Center.
